Claudia Leona is an artist and writer whose work explores the inner landscapes of being human including the patterns, movement, emotion, transformation, and unseen forces that shape our existence.

Her visual work is intuitive and organic, often beginning without a predetermined destination. Through watercolor, ink, texture, repetition, and abstract form, she allows each piece to emerge gradually - following shape, movement, balance, and instinct rather than forcing the work toward a particular outcome.

Some pieces feel cellular, others geological, botanical, bodily, or almost cosmic. Much of the work lives somewhere between the recognizable and the unknown.

Claudia grew up in a German immigrant family and began exploring art from an early age. As a teenager, she created stained glass windows, working with color, light, pattern, and form. 

Claudia has spent much of her life creating in different forms - through art, writing, research, and the exploration of what it means to inhabit a human life. Her art is influenced by the organic structures of the earth, the ethereal qualities of the universe, and the movement that exists at every scale between them.

Each original is created by hand and carries the marks of its making - the layers, irregularities and movement that exists in subtle forms both in earthen terrain or in particles that exist in the universe.

Movement lives within every layer of the work. It exists in the changing density of color, in the smallest shapes formed within a passage, in the relationships between those shapes, and in the larger form they become together. The eye moves between these different scales, discovering something new with each return.

What first appears as one shape becomes another; what once receded suddenly comes forward. The piece never feels completely fixed. It continues to reveal itself, and in doing so, feels alive.
